A MAD BOMBER crosses the country with nothing to lose and orders to kill. He won't stop until the "cloud computing" that powers the internet is destroyed. But he's not acting alone--he's part of a conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels of power.

His only obstacle? A team of professionals with serious flaws a corporate investigator who's too brash to stay out of trouble, a hermit-like blogger with crippling paranoia, and a beautiful public relations expert with her own fair share of secrets. They'll have to work together to discover the true source of the attacks--before it's too late.

Along the way, they'll come in contact with modern technology's greatest risks. The chase takes them from Silicon Valley to New York City, with stops at Napa and Area 51 in between. They'll have to move quickly--there's only one chance to keep the cloud from crashing.

If you love taut, puzzle-based thrillers with big ideas, you'll want to start Cloud Crash immediately.

Cloud Crash A Technothriller edition by Phil Edwards Literature Fiction eBooks

I'm not a tech guy, but I have some idea what "the cloud" is. My e-mails and documents are in the cloud. My Facebook status messages and photos are in the cloud. My twitter blurbs are in the cloud. So if the cloud would collapse, a part of my life would disappear. This is happening in Cloud Crash. Websites are down, services are unreachable, the Internet is collapsing, because data centers are detonated.

The CEO of Bioze calls Cal Stevens, consultant to find out who is behind this conspiracy. Because for Bioze it is not only information which is at stake, but the life of hospital patients are in danger, whose treatment is handled and followed by cloud computing applications. If the Bioze data center crushes, people dies.

So Cal does his best to get to the man who is not afraid to kill anyone between him and his target. Fortunately Brianna Cowell is helping him, who turns out to be an agent.

I liked that the story is fast paced. I liked the characters too, because they were not perfect, but human. I liked the idea of erasing "the cloud". I liked the book.

Cloud Crash A Technothriller edition by Phil Edwards Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Read this a while ago, and just getting around to writing a review. Over all this was a pretty good book. The plot flowed pretty well, and kept me interested. The discussions about current(at the time) Internet issues was actually rather clever and using it to play into the plot was used quite well I thought. Most of the action was very well written, however the bit at the end in the rowing club was a bit over the top. Very happy with book and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.
I really like technothrillers, but a lot of them don't live up to their promise. That's not the case with Cloud Crash, there are plenty of twists, nice little puzzles, a few surprises, and a whole lot of laughs.

The characters are great, especially Cal... Gotta love the sarcasm. The story stretches a bit beyond plausibility, but the premise is something to ponder.

A great book that doesn't take itself too seriously, and is filled with a lot of humor.

A fast, fun read.
I liked the pace of the book, I liked the humor of the book . Cal Stevens who chases the mad-bomber with Brianna Cowell is quick witted and sometimes just plain stupid LOL. They make it easy to understand the tech stuff without being to techie. F - bomb twice 2/3 rds thru the book , talk of sex but no description of the deeds (the way I like to read about it), lots of inuendos and several killings. As most books the first few chapters are laying the ground work and for me sometimes its hard to muddle thru to learn all the players. Once you know it becomes fast and frenzied. Trying to figure out the clues with Cal and Brianna is exciting. Those who like tech and spy stuff would like this .
This dragged a bit and was a little unbelievable. But then it has to be some what unbelievable since it is a book and not a true story. Character development was about right. You get to know the characters and some are even quite likable. As in any book it has to have many parts that are pure fantasy but then it is a book not a true story right. Overall I would recommend this to friends.
Hotshot lone shark Cal Stevens is called in to investigate what appears to be a hacker trying to bring down the internet. Of course, it turns out to be far more than that.

Cal's wiseass wisecracks in the face of danger may not necessarily make him the most realistic character, but he's great fun to be around and you could easily picture his dialogue working well in a movie.

A pretty PR specialist, a conspiracy-oriented blogger, and a Tech "Czar" are among the many characters that populate this Cal Stevens novel. All of them are infused with their own unique personalities.

While the unraveling mysteries do provide the reader with some weighty food-for-thought, Cloud Crash is ultimately a fun action romp with cool characters, nice banter, and prominent locales. The ultimate beach read!
This was a technical thriller that kept my attention throughout. There was fun during the entire book as the main character showed a sly and self-deprecating wit. There weren't many times when I wanted to set the book aside because the action was steady and conceivable.

I liked the character development - the flawed hero, the strong and sexy heroine, the crazed villain, and the self-important rich guy who thought he had it all figured out.

Yes, this book seems to be based on a standard formula but I had fun reading it. I also found the mystery was solved earlier in the book than I've normally seen in other books in this genre.

As a former tech guy, I found the the descriptions of the data centers and the computing cloud complete but simple enough to be understandable by everyone.

I recommend this for a fun thriller.
While the book does not break new ground in conspiracy thrillers, it did a good job in holding this readers interest. Someone is employing an effective killer to blow up vital links in internet communication. Opposing him (or them) is a primary and a secondary pairing of male and female, one set for the West Coast and the other on the East Coast. The first is the center of the opposition, the second, frankly, seems an afterthought with relatively little character development expended on them. Some familiar tools are utilized to isolate the West Coast team from utilizing law enforcement agencies, which, of course, are countered by the ingenuity and daring of the team.
One need not take a position on the likelihood of this sort of conspiracy being launched nor the potential for its success, to enjoy the unfolding of the plot and the efforts of the Good Guys to thwart the agents of the Nefarious Forces. There is relatively little of the complexity one finds in the most successful plying the genre; however, that fact makes for easier reading, suitable to travel and other light reading situations. Those who desire heavier fare should turn to the heavyweights readily available for kindle reading (at a less desirable cost).
